The range
Our Timber Window Range
Every window is built to order — there’s no stock. Each range links through to the individual models with prices.
Timber Sash on Weights
The traditional vertical sliding sash, counterbalanced by lead or steel weights hidden in the box frame and run over pulleys on nylon cord. The most historically authentic mechanism, and the usual specification for listed buildings and conservation-area work.
Timber Sash on Hidden Springs
The same vertical sliding action balanced by a concealed spiral spring instead of weights, allowing a slimmer box frame and lower maintenance. A practical choice for new builds and properties without conservation constraints.
Timber Flush Casement
Side-hung casements where the sash sits flush within the frame when closed, giving a clean, flat face line. Mechanically simpler than a sash and easier to clean. Suits cottages, Arts and Crafts properties and contemporary homes alike.
Choosing your timber
Pine, Meranti or Oak — Which Timber?
All three timbers are engineered (laminated in layers), which keeps the frame dimensionally stable so it won’t bow, twist or warp the way solid timber can. The choice comes down to finish and budget.
| Timber | Character | Best for | Relative cost |
|---|---|---|---|
| Engineered pine | Smooth, close grain; takes paint beautifully | Painted windows where the timber won’t show | Lowest |
| Meranti hardwood | Tighter, more open grain; natural durability | A step up in durability; stained or painted | Mid |
| Oak | Strong, characterful grain | Stained finishes and where hardwood is specified | Highest (≈2.5× pine) |
Most Georgian and period orders are pine, because those windows are almost always painted (white, off-white or heritage colours) and the timber underneath is never seen — pine gives the same visual result as oak at a fraction of the cost. Specify oak or meranti when the frames will be stained rather than painted, when you want the longest possible service life, or when a conservation officer requires hardwood.
Sash or casement
Which Style Suits Your Property?
Sash windows slide vertically and dominated British architecture from the early 1700s through the Edwardian era — they’re the right call for Georgian, Victorian and Edwardian terraces and anything that nods to that period. Casements are side-hung and swing outward like a door; they suit cottages, farmhouses, Arts and Crafts homes and modern builds, and they’re easier to clean and mechanically simpler. If you’re weighing the two, our guide to sash and casement styles walks through the trade-offs in detail.
Performance
Glazing & Energy Efficiency
Double glazing is fitted as standard — 14–24mm sealed units with warm-edge spacer technology, achieving a U-value of 1.4 W/m²K and meeting current Part L Building Regulations. Single glazing is available for listed buildings where slim sightlines matter and double glazing isn’t permitted. For noise-sensitive locations and low-energy projects we also offer triple glazing and acoustic glass. Each sash is individually balanced for its glazing weight, which matters with double-glazed units as they’re significantly heavier than the single glazing these windows originally carried.

Timber Windows — Frequently Asked Questions
Do you install the windows, or is it supply only?
–
+
We’re a supply-only manufacturer. We build your windows to measure and deliver them anywhere in the UK, ready for you or your installer to fit. We can provide the specifications, profile drawings and material details your fitter or a conservation officer may need, but we don’t carry out installation ourselves.
How much do bespoke timber windows cost?
–
+
Prices start from £449+VAT for a sash on weights or a flush single casement, rising with size, timber and glazing. Georgian patterns and triple casements start higher (from £649–£799+VAT). Oak costs roughly 2.5 times the equivalent pine. Because every window is made to measure, send your sizes and spec for an exact quote within 48 hours.
What’s the difference between sash on weights and sash on hidden springs?
–
+
Both slide vertically. Sash on weights uses traditional lead or steel counterweights on cords in the box frame — the most historically authentic option, preferred for listed and conservation work. Hidden springs use a concealed spiral balance instead, allowing a slimmer frame and lower maintenance, which suits new builds and unrestricted properties.
Can you make non-standard shapes like arched, circular or bay windows?
–
+
Yes. Every window starts from your measurements, so we routinely make arched heads, circular frames, angled bay and curved bow configurations that off-the-shelf suppliers can’t match. The angles and dimensions are critical on these, so send drawings or detailed measurements and we’ll quote to them.
Which timber lasts longest?
–
+
All three are engineered for dimensional stability and, properly maintained, timber windows last decades. Oak and meranti hardwood offer the greatest natural durability and are the choice for the longest service life or stained finishes. Engineered pine is excellent for painted windows and the most cost-effective. The finish system matters as much as the timber — every frame is vacuum-impregnated and given a multi-coat microporous finish.
How long does delivery take?
–
+
Most orders are ready within around 20 working days from confirmation. You’ll get a production update when your windows enter the workshop and a delivery date once they’re finished. We deliver nationwide, from central London to the Scottish Highlands.
