Timber Windows in London

+

London has more conservation areas than any other city in the UK — over 1,000 across 33 boroughs. That single fact explains why timber windows outsell every other frame material in the capital. When your property sits inside a protected zone — and in London, the odds are surprisingly high — the planning authority will almost certainly expect wooden windows that match the originals.

We supply made-to-measure timber windows across every London borough. Engineered pine, meranti, or oak. Factory-finished, delivered to your door. Supply-only — no installation, no showroom, no markup for either.

Find Your Borough

+

London’s architecture varies dramatically from one borough to the next. A Georgian townhouse in Kensington needs a completely different window specification from a 1930s semi in Enfield or a Victorian terrace in Wandsworth. That’s why we’ve created dedicated pages for each area we serve — with local conservation area details, planning guidance, and pricing specific to each borough’s typical properties.

West London

Kensington & Chelsea — Georgian and Regency stucco-fronted properties. RBKC has some of London’s strictest conservation controls. Sash windows with precise glazing bar profiles are the standard here.
Hammersmith & Fulham — Victorian terraces dominate, particularly around Brackenbury Village and Sands End. Bay windows are common and need careful measurement.
Ealing — Known as the “Queen of the Suburbs” for its Edwardian housing stock. Strong conservation areas around Haven Green and Pitshanger.
Hounslow — Ranges from Chiswick’s premium Victorian villas to Brentford’s regeneration zone. Properties near Heathrow benefit from acoustic-grade triple glazing.
Hillingdon — London’s westernmost borough. Ruislip and Eastcote have 1930s Metroland semis. Uxbridge town centre has its own conservation area.

South & South West London

Wandsworth — Packed with Victorian terraces. Over a dozen conservation areas, some with Article 4 directions. Sash windows are the default.
Merton — Covers Wimbledon, Mitcham, Morden, and Colliers Wood. Diverse housing stock from grand Victorian villas to inter-war semis.
Wimbledon — The most searched area within Merton. Wimbledon Village and the Common have strict conservation controls under Merton Council.
Richmond upon Thames — Over 70 conservation areas. Georgian, Victorian, and Edwardian architecture in equal measure. Some of South West London’s finest period properties.
Kingston upon Thames — Historically part of Surrey, now a London borough. Kingston Market Place has notable Georgian architecture. Surbiton and New Malden have strong inter-war and Edwardian stock.

North London

Enfield — London’s most semi-rural borough. Enfield Town has Georgian character, Southgate has classic 1930s Metroland homes, and Forty Hill is one of North London’s most protected conservation areas.
Brent — 1930s semi-detached properties dominate much of the borough. Brondesbury and Queen’s Park have Victorian conservation areas. Properties near the North Circular benefit from acoustic glazing.

What All London Properties Have in Common

+

Whatever borough you’re in, three things apply across the board.

First, conservation areas are everywhere. London has more protected zones per square mile than anywhere else in the country. If you’re replacing windows in one, you’ll need timber that matches the originals in material, profile, and proportions. uPVC won’t get approval in most cases.

Second, Victorian and Edwardian housing stock dominates. The majority of London’s residential properties pre-date 1920 — which means they were built with timber windows and they look right with timber windows. Our double-glazed sash windows use slim 12mm cavity units that maintain period proportions while delivering U-values around 1.4 W/m²K. That’s roughly three times better than the single-glazed originals.

Third, every London borough has its own planning department with its own conservation team. Requirements vary. What Wandsworth Council accepts, RBKC might reject. Always check with YOUR borough before ordering.

Our Range

+

We offer three core styles across all London boroughs:

Sash windows — the standard for Victorian and Edwardian properties. Traditional cord-and-weight or spring-balanced mechanisms. Prices from £Prices from £449+VAT+VAT.
Flush casement windows — clean, modern profile for contemporary properties or where the original windows were casements. Multipoint locking standard.
Georgian style windows — multi-pane designs with authentic glazing bar configurations for Georgian and Regency properties.

All windows are made to measure in engineered pine, meranti, or oak. BS 644 compliant. Part L capable with double or triple glazing.
