Project: Flush Casement Windows for Arts and Crafts Property
This tile-hung Kent property needed complete window replacement. The original softwood casements had reached the end of their life—warped frames, failed seals, and paint that needed scraping back every other year.
We supplied flush casement windows in engineered pine, factory-finished in brilliant white to match the fresh render and brickwork. The flush design sits perfectly within the frame openings, creating those clean lines that suit both Edwardian homes and more contemporary tastes.
The challenge here was matching the existing window proportions while upgrading the glass specification. We kept the traditional horizontal glazing bars but switched to slim double glazed units that meet current Building Regulations. The clients wanted maximum light without losing period character—getting that balance right took some careful planning.
Thermal performance mattered because these tile-hung properties can be cold. We specified low-E glass with argon filling and warm-edge spacers, which dramatically improved insulation compared to the old single-glazed units. The homeowners noticed the difference immediately—rooms stay warmer and condensation’s gone.
Installation was straightforward once we’d templated everything precisely. These older Kent properties have settled over time, so every opening needed individual measurement. Our fitters worked methodically, weatherproofing each window as they went.
Two years on, the windows still operate smoothly and look factory-fresh. The white finish complements the traditional tile hanging beautifully—exactly the clean, crisp look the clients wanted. Sometimes the best renovation is the one that simply looks right.
